Cruise 5531, Day 7 – Alanya, Turkey

07-chronicle

Alanya is an old pirate stronghold. There are lots of pirate-like sight-seeing boats along the quay. A little threat of rain in mid-morning when we went ashore.

This port features a long pier where the Silver Spirit is docked and it T’s to the waterfront road which winds to the left to the old shipyard and on up to the fort atop the mountain. To the right is a very nice walking quay with all the sight-seeing boats decked out in Pirate motif.

We avoided the rain and returned to the Spirit in time for lunch with Jeri on the pool deck, and returned in the evening for dinner when the upper level of the pool deck transforms into the Hot Rocks restaurant. With assistance from our helpful waiter, we grill our choice of entree on “hot rocks”. What could be easier than that?  I had a huge piece of salmon and Jeri and Bob chose filets. Tonight’s show featured Cruise Director, Moss Hills, who put on an unbelievable musical performance. He is an amazing talent.
