Cruise 5531, Day 9 – Rhodes, Greece

09-chronicle

Rhodes is a very special place to visit. We were able to walk from the Spirit along the waterfront and into the walled city of Rhodes. It was like going back in time. Everything is within these massive stone walls and yet the town is beautiful and open and very enjoyable to visit.

Bob had a mission to find a Synagogue that was shown on a map provided by the ship. We did find it, but it was closed. Oddly enough, this is Shabbat. Bob thinks there is a secret entrance for the locals only.

There are lots of restaurants in the town center and one of the features is a bevy of colorful parrots. The shop owners use them as shills and pose them with you in the hope that you will frequent their restaurant. We walked some shopping streets. Bob found a nice place to sip while I explored the shops. We had a really nice time and were back aboard by early afternoon. Tonight is our second formal night. See how spiffy the three of us look in the pictures in Helene’s Cam below. Another elegant and relaxing day on the Silver Spirit. It really feels like home now.
