After a leisurely breakfast together Bob and I took the shuttle bus which leaves every half hour from the ship to the town. Took an umbrella but didn’t have much rain until we returned and then had quite a storm all afternoon. Antalya is a modern city with an old town at the lower level. There are minarets all over and many mosques as well. There is a clock tower and fortress ruins all about. In the upper city there were traffic-free walking streets; great for shopping. Another feature was an Istanbul bazaar-like shopping complex of streets in which you can easily get lost. Can you think of a better place to be lost? Bob bought some spices from a colorfully displayed spice shop–he’s the chef in our abode.
We sailed for Rhodes at 5:30 P.M. and Captain Pontillo announced that heavy weather was expected tonight from 11:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. This was not a good evening for me. I ordered the recommended green apples, rolls and ginger ale and weathered (pun intended) the storm in bed as you can see from Bob’s gallery below.
